Broad Street Kickboxing Goes 3-0 at Thailand Games
Bangkok, Thailand — Broad Street Kickboxing couldn't have scripted it better. Three fighters, three world titles, zero losses. The Philadelphia-based gym swept their competition at the 2025 ISKA Thailand Games in Bangkok, completing a perfect showing at the international tournament held May 18-22.
Championship Night Results
Ben Thieberger set the tone early for Team USA, controlling his bout against his Iranian opponent from opening bell to final decision. Using sharp technique and smart ring positioning, Thieberger never let his opponent get comfortable, cruising to a clear victory.
If Thieberger's win was clinical, Thomas Wilson's was pure grit. Giving up significant weight to his Chinese opponent, the WKA Silver Medalist weathered a tough first two rounds before turning the tide in the third. Wilson found his timing, landed a devastating combination, and scored the knockout that had his corner erupting.
Then came Jerry Valme, and the veteran showed why experience matters on the big stage. The WKA Champion and former Cage Wars MMA Champion lived up to his reputation, using superior footwork to frustrate his opponent throughout their bout. Valme danced, pivoted, and picked his shots en route to a unanimous decision that was never in doubt, adding another world title to an already impressive resume.
The Road to Bangkok
This dominant performance didn't happen overnight. Earlier this year, Broad Street Kickboxing received an invitation that would set the course for this championship run — the chance to represent Team USA at the Thailand Games. It was an opportunity Coach Jake couldn't pass up.
Selecting the right fighters mattered. Coach Jake went with a mix of experience and hunger, choosing three athletes who had proven themselves in tournament settings. Each brought something different: Valme's championship pedigree, Wilson's power, and Thieberger's technical precision.
The ISKA Kickboxing Tournament they entered was no small affair. Partnering with the International & Thai Martial Arts Games, the event featured both K-1 and Unified Rules Kickboxing divisions. Beyond the fights, it included officials certifications and martial arts seminars, making it a true celebration of combat sports.
The Philly Way Works Worldwide
Three world championships don't just happen. They're the result of countless hours in the gym, the right coaching, and fighters willing to test themselves against top competition. For Broad Street Kickboxing, this sweep puts them firmly on the international map.
The team returns to Philadelphia having accomplished something special. In a sport where one loss can derail momentum, going 3-0 against world-class competition sends a message.
Coach Jake Skelly summed it up best after the final bell: "We went 3-0 tonight with 3 world champions. Ben dominated his opponent from Iran, Thomas KO'd his much heavier opponent from China in the 3rd round and Jerry danced his way to a dominant decision. 3 WORLD champions coming back to Philadelphia!"
